Important Policies

Ice Policy
  • Skaters may only be on the ice during the sessions they are registered (no switching times, no make up sessions)
  • There will be no make up sessions if the session is cancelled by the Town due to weather, etc.
  • A CSA approved helmet with a face cage must be worn at all times
  • No skater shall be permitted to leave the ice surface unless accompanied by a parent or guardian
  • Abusive or aggressive behaviour by skaters or parents will not be tolerated
  • Skaters arriving late will have to wait at the ice surface door until a coach is able to get them
  •  Parents and guardians are not allowed on the ice at any time
Who is allowed on the ice?

Liability insurance provided by the Town of New Tecumseth and IceTyme Skating School has very clear guideliness regarding parents or guardians on the ice.

Parents and/or guardians are not covered under these policies

The Town is enforcing these rules and they must be adhered to or we will be at rish of having our permit revoked.

This is for the safety of everyone and we greatly appreciate everyone respecting this rule.

What to expect, when to talk

First Classes

The first class of the season may appear slightly disorganized as skaters learn the routine and we evaluate their skills and needs.

For many skaters it is the first time on the ice, or their first activity where parents are not right there with them.

We take all of this of this into account, and try to place our skaters into a group that suites them.

It’s a process, we only ask that you have patience and talk to us if you have concerns.

Communicating with IceTyme Staff

While our coaches are pressed for time at the beginning of a session and focused on our skaters during it, our skaters families are important too and we are more than happy to speak with you after we are off the ice.

If you wish to speak with a coach or have any concerns please find one of us after the session, or contact us anytime by email [email protected] or phone.

Equipment

Helmets

CSA approved hockey helmets with a face cage must be worn at all times when skaters are on the ice.

Hockey helmets are designed to help protect against head injuries occurring on the ice, whether from a fall or collision. Bicycle helmets are not designed to protect against head injuries that may occur on the ice. It is important to ensure that when a skater is on the ice, they are protected with equipment designed for their sport or activity.

Skates

Things to remember when buying skates

  • A well made basic pair of hockey or figure skates is best
  • Have the blades sharpened before the first session
Other Equipment Notes

Things to remember when buying skates

  • Shin pads and elbow pads are not recommended
  • Bulky clothing is not recommended as it makes it difficult for skaters to move

Refund Policy

Participants are to attend all classes as scheduled for the program in which they are registered. In the event that a participant is unable to attend a scheduled class refunds, or credits for the missed class will not be provided.

Due to past confusions we at IceTyme want to be very clear, we will NOT refund fees before the season starts or at any point during the season, because a child refuses to skate, or a parent / guardian has changed their mind.

Skaters who are unable to skate due to an injury or medical reason, but who do not wish to withdraw, may request a refund or credit for skating classes missed. IceTyme may request an official Doctor’s Certificate from the skater.

All refunds will be calculated as follows,
